Jennifer Hancock began studying piano and percussion during grade school in Columbus, Ohio. After Capital University granted scholarships to her for both talents, she continued her study in music, business, classical & jazz piano, and specialized in mallet & ethnic percussion.
During a semester internship studying ethnic percussion at the Jamaican School of Dance (Kingston, Jamaica), she taught dancers a notational system to assist them with documenting and recalling traditional dance rhythms.
After earning her Bachelor’s of Music degree in 1993 from Capital, Jennifer moved to Chapel Hill, NC and worked as an arts administrator for four years. She established her Suzuki piano teaching studio in 1997 and has since completed coursework in Suzuki Piano pedagogy, books one through six.
Jennifer is recognized by the Music Teachers National Association as a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music.
She maintains a teaching studio in her home near Mebane North Carolina, and is director of the Triangle Music School In Durham, North Carolina.
In addition to her private teaching, Jennifer works as a Suzuki workshop clinician around the United States and serves as pianist and for the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Hillsborough.
